ANNOUNCEMENTS


Dr. James Ogden, Kutztown University’s American Advertising Federation (AAF) student group and the Center for Retailing Solutions at Kutztown University announce the “Ghost in the House” event on Friday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m., in the Tompkins College Center at Cedar Crest College. Directed by Frank Megna and starring stage, screen and TV great Ernie Hudson (famous for his role in Ghostbusters I and II), the show portrays the last few years of Jack Johnson, America’s first African-American heavyweight boxing champion. At the conclusion of the show, Frank and Ernie will answer audience questions.

Tickets are available for $55 for regular seats and $150 for premium tickets, which include a meet and greet reception with Ernie and Frank. Discounts are available for members of the AAF; Center for Retailing Solutions or the Western Lehigh Chamber of Commerce. Group rates are also available. Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Awards - Application Deadline: Feb. 15
The Kutztown Academic Achievement Awards were established through a generous gift provided by Dr. Carlson R. Chambliss, who served as a member of the Kutztown University faculty from 1970 until 2003. The purpose of the awards is to recognize the exceptional individual achievements of a select group of senior students as their careers at Kutztown University draw to a close. Faculty and staff at Kutztown University are encouraged to nominate students worthy of consideration for this prestigious award. The criterion requires that the applicant exemplify an individual achievement in one or more of the following areas in order to be considered for one of the twelve awards. The areas of achievement are:

a) Successfully completed research projects
b) Original artwork of high quality
c) Artistic performances (music, chorus, drama, etc.) of high quality
d) Original writing in literature or meritorious writing in other fields
e) Noteworthy achievements in athletics
f) Outstanding service to the Kutztown University community

Dr. Chambliss has provided the resources for up to twelve medals (2 gold, 4 silver, 6 copper) to be issued annually to the students selected for this award. - Start the New Year with a 2013 Pennsylvania German Language Calendar, still available at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center. The calendars are in both English and PA German, with recolored historic images of the local landscape. They can be purchased at the Heritage Center for $12. GRE PREP COURSE
In response to students’ requests for a GRE preparation course, the Career Development Center and Kaplan have arranged for a special discounted price for Kaplan’s Online GRE Prep Course. This is a self-paced course with video instruction, over 5,000 practice questions, seven full-length practice tests, email access to Kaplan advisors, and study materials including textbooks, workbooks, flashcards and reference guides.  Please visit careers.kutztown.edu for details.
