It is with great sadness to inform you of the passing of Rhonda Branford's mother, Judy Edwards. Cards or messages of condolences should be sent to Rhonda via campus mail to the Multicultural Center. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Faculty and Staff: The General Education Assessment Committee, General Education Committee, and the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching are sponsoring the January workshop on General Education and Assessment at Kutztown University on Jan. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the MSU multipurpose room.

The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Nancy Mitchell, professor of Advertising and director of Undergraduate Education Programs at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and will feature a discussion of the various types of curricular and co-curricular connections, including Nebraska’s unique innovation. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to talk with Kutztown University faculty and staff who are already involved in connecting the curricular with the co-curricular, including Dr. Kurt Friehauf on undergraduate research, Ms. Leah Cassellia on civic engagement and the speakers’ series, and Dr. Michelle Kiec on the bus to NYC for art and other opportunities (subsequent announcements will include other connections). Lunch will be provided for participants and will offer the opportunity for stimulating conversation with colleagues.

 Mark your calendar! The Cub Cafe will be open for breakfast and lunch from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23 due to special events which require the kitchen facilities. Please take note - the Bear's Den will be closed that day, but will return to the 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Friday hours until the beginning of the spring semester.

Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Awards - Application Deadline: Feb. 15
The Kutztown Academic Achievement Awards were established through a generous gift provided by Dr. Carlson R. Chambliss, who served as a member of the Kutztown University faculty from 1970 until 2003. The purpose of the awards is to recognize the exceptional individual achievements of a select group of senior students as their careers at Kutztown University draw to a close. Faculty and staff at Kutztown University are encouraged to nominate students worthy of consideration for this prestigious award. The criterion requires that the applicant exemplify an individual achievement in one or more of the following areas in order to be considered for one of the twelve awards. The areas of achievement are:

a) Successfully completed research projects
b) Original artwork of high quality
c) Artistic performances (music, chorus, drama, etc.) of high quality
d) Original writing in literature or meritorious writing in other fields
e) Noteworthy achievements in athletics
f) Outstanding service to the Kutztown University community

Dr. Chambliss has provided the resources for up to twelve medals (2 gold, 4 silver, 6 copper) to be issued annually to the students selected for this award.
