Kutztown University freshman and Philadelphia native Alexis Gonzalez will compete in the Miss Berks County scholarship competition on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m., in Alvernia University’s Francis Hall Auditorium. Alexis’ platform is "Be Aware of the Media: You're Beautiful!" and her talent is salsa dancing. Miss Berks is the local official preliminary event for Miss America. Mark your calendar! The Cub Cafe will be open for breakfast and lunch from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23 due to special events which require the kitchen facilities. Please take note - the Bear's Den will be closed that day, but will return to the 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Friday hours until the beginning of the spring semester.

Accounts Payable Office - Please be advised that the U.S. General Services Administration’s  Privately Owned Vehicle reimbursement rate has increased to 56.5 cents per mile effective Jan. 1, 2013. In
accordance with Board of Governors’ Policy 1986-07-A, Travel Expense Regulations, the reimbursement rate for use of a personal automobile for official system travel also has increased to 56.5 cents per mile effective Jan. 1, 2013. (For travel occurring from Apr. 17, 2012, through Dec. 31, 2012, the reimbursement rate is 55.5 cents per mile.) We are pleased to welcome Lori Lentz to the Registrar’s Office as our new Transfer Student/Graduate Student Coordinator. Lori holds a B.S. degree in accounting from Cedar Crest College. After a successful career in accounting, Lori spent the past two years as a graduate student working in the Bursar’s Office, the Career Development Center and Academic Enrichment while pursuing her master’s degree in Student Affairs at KU.
