The KU Athletic Department will hold a press conference today at 1 p.m. to announce its new head football coach. You can watch the event live on KUTV Channel 24 on campus or on the web at kubears.com. Be sure to tune in!

I regret to inform the campus community of the passing of Mrs. Marjorie Johnson of Sebring, Florida, mother of Ms. Patricia Richter, director of the Disability Services Office, on Wednesday, Jan. 16. Condolences may be sent to Pat and her family at her home (5 Lark Lane, Sinking Spring, PA 19608) or on campus to richter@kutztown.edu or at the Disability Services Office, room 215, Stratton Administration Building.

Mark your calendar! The Cub Cafe will be open for breakfast and lunch today  Jan. 23 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.  due to special events which require the kitchen facilities. Please take note - the Bear's Den will be closed today, but will return to the 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Friday hours until the beginning of the spring semester.

Reminder:
The January Workshop on General Education & Assessment at Kutztown University will be held this Thursday, Jan. 24 in the MSU Multi-purpose Room, from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The theme is Curricular and Co-curricular Connections. The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Nancy Mitchell, professor of Advertising and director of Undergraduate Education Programs at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and will feature a discussion of the various types of curricular and co-curricular connections, including Nebraska’s unique innovation. Lunch will be provided for participants and will offer the opportunity for stimulating conversation with colleagues. The Kutztown Community Partnership consistently seeks to provide the opportunity for individuals and groups to display and showcase their skills in the Kutztown Community. We admire the work of students and faculty from Kutztown University and are eager to provide a number of opportunities for faculty and students to display and sell their work or to share their skills at local events. In order to make participation in such events more accessible we’ve created a list of 2013 events. Below is a list of 2013 events where vendor space is available with a minimal or in some cases no contribution.

Feb. 9 - Wine about Winter, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Apr. 5 - First Friday Event series will begin
May 11 - CommUnity Block Party, Noon - 4 p.m.
Jun. 8 - Taste of Kutztown, TBD (11 a.m. or Noon - 5 p.m.)
Jul. 20 - Muscle on Main, 4 - 8 p.m.
Nov. 30 - Small Business Saturday/Main Street Christmas
Dec. 5 - Holiday Marketplace in Student Union Building

Your unique selection and style of goods is important to us and we would like to provide every opportunity possible to showcase your work. We are continuously adding events to our schedule and are always willing to help coordinate additional events in town that help showcase the variety of talent the Kutztown Community has to offer. The Kutztown University cheer team (KUCT) placed fourth in the nation at Saturday's UCA national college cheerleading championship held in Orlando, Florida. The team competed in the all-girl Division 1 division in semi finals against 10 teams and moved onto finals where they earned the fourth place ranking. Congratulations on your amazing achievement KUCT!
