“The Vagina Monologues” is an outrageous, humorous, and thought-provoking play that both entertains and educates audiences. The eighth annual KU student production of Eve Ensler’s Obie award-winning play is held in conjunction with V-Day programs on college campuses around the world. The purpose of the V-Day initiative is to create awareness about violence toward women, and to raise money for local and international agencies devoted to the welfare of women—until the violence stops.

When a young girl in the late 1800s prays for a healer to come to her small Indiana town, one literally drops from the sky, but his seemingly miraculous cures soon give way to a mysterious plague. This affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies follows the adventures of a meek floral assistant who finds fame and glory through nurturing a mysterious plant that turns out to be an alien bent on destroying mankind. This snappy musical comedy by the writers of some of Disney’s most popular musicals was one of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time. Performed by KU student actors and directed by theatre professor David Pfeiffer, with musical direction by Dr. Dennis Williams.

The Children’s Camp is for children ages 6-11 years old and is held on the center grounds. The Yunge’s Camp is intended for children ages 12-15 years old. Campers will learn different aspects of the Pennsylvania German culture as well as “old time” and hands-on activities.
