Welcome to Old Main -- the heart of Kutztown University!
Built in 1866, Old Main is the oldest and most historic building on campus. In our founding years at the close of the nineteenth century, Old Main was our sole building, providing classroom, administrative and living space.
Today, Old Main is a modern and vibrant educational haven, housing the university's Music, Speech Language Pathology, Psychology, Criminal Justice and Social Work departments. You will also find our Office of Public Safety and our Women's Center, as well as the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching, the English Writing Lab and a warm and friendly daycare center.
Old Main has maintained its historic beauty and charm, including its resident, friendly ghost Mary. According to many students, Mary cohabitates peacefully with the 400 young women who reside in the residence hall section of Old Main and Mary can sometimes be seen quietly roaming Old Main's corridors.
