Open Meeting

There are a number of meetings held during the course of an academic year that are intended to help prospective promotion applicants. During the Fall semester in which you apply, the UPC schedules a series of open meetings to offer suggestions for best practices and to listen to your questions. The committee chair will announce the schedule of these meetings at the start of the semester.

During the Spring semester in which faculty apply for promotion, there is time set aside for applicants to meet with the committee before it makes its recommendations. The purpose of these meetings is to provide faculty members applying for promotion with the opportunity to update the UPC on projects that had been pending at the time of their original application.

After promotions are announced by management in July, faculty who were not successful have the opportunity to individually meet with the committee to discuss concerns and potential remediation. These meetings may be scheduled through the UPC chair.
