Mission & Goals

Established February 3, 2005, KU's GLBTQ Resource Center seeks to be the regional center for resources which create and support environments whereby the gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, inter-sex, and questioning students, faculty, administrators, staff, and alumni have access, inclusion, recognition, equality, and respect in all facets of higher education.

  1. Provide a safe network and advocate for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning (GLBTQ), and allies who are students, staff, or faculty of Kutztown University.
  2. Educate students, staff, and faculty of Kutztown University about discrimination and the oppression of GLBTQ individuals.
  3. Increase awareness and acceptance of GLBTQ persons and issues, to create and insure cooperation and unity among the Kutztown University community.

Achievement of this mission is advanced through four major goals:

Goal 1: Maintain a safe environment which nurtures and supports student leadership development and facilitates campus activities to reduce homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, heterosexism, heterosexual and gender straight privilege.

Goal 2: Provide leadership to the campus and broader community through educational awareness, information distribution, and services and activities regarding sexuality and gender issues.

Goal 3: Provide support and resources to colleagues serving GLBT and intersex communities in higher education.

Goal 4: Consult with higher education administrators in the interest of improving campus climate and services for GLBTQ students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni.
