Duties & Responsibilities:

(Under the Supervision of an Assistant Director or Associate Director)

The Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Special Project Graduate Student is a member of Kutztown University’s Housing and Dining Services Team. The graduate student assists with programming and leadership, housing processes, dining programming, facility management and retention while adhering to the mission and core values of the department.

Duties include, but may not be limited to:

Staff Recruitment, Training, and Development:

  • Assist with and facilitate the onboarding process for mid semester hires
  • Assist with the marketing of all undergraduate positions
  • Oversee the desk hole coverage for the department
  • Serve as a member of the Staff Recruitment, Recognition and Training Committee

Programming and Leadership:

  • Assist with the development and Facilitation of Hall Council Leadership Trainings
  • Assist with the development of training for Hall Council Advisors
  • Assist with the preparation of the yearly proposal for Hall Council budgets
  • Perform monthly audits of the programming database
  • Assist with planning and facilitating trainings in the area of programming
  • Assist with the updating of the programming model
  • Plan and execute large scale campus events and programs
  • Serve as an advisor to a student group within the department

Housing Processes:

  • Assist with the Housing Exemption process
  • Plan and host information sessions for Housing Processes
  • Develop and coordinate Roommate Socials
  • Assist with the creation of videos for processes, protocols, and procedures
  • Assist with follow up phone calls to students (Zero Credits, Incomplete Housing Process, Wait List etc.)
  • Assist with the Openings and Closings of the halls

Marketing:

    • Assist with all aspects of social media

    Crisis Intervention and Response:

    • The Special Projects grad resides on campus and is available to assume evening and weekend responsibilities. While on duty, the Resident Director may work closely with Public Safety, Police Services, custodial staff and other University departments.

    Student Conduct:

    • The Special Projects Grad provides an educational discipline process for residents, which includes timely adjudication of all citations and assigned incident reports as well as efficient management of related correspondence.

    Dining:

    • Assist with assessment efforts
    • Work with Aramark to plan and facilitate one program a semester in the SDH
    • Assist with the marketing and promotion of meal plan sales
    • Attend Food Advisory Board Meeting (unless have class)
