Application Information

  • Applications are also available in hard copy for pick-up in the Residence Life and Housing & Dining Services Office in 106 Old Main.
  • Letters should be signed and returned to the Residence Life and Housing & Dining Services Office in 106 Old Main.

Interview Information

  • Candidates will be contacted by Residence Life Office to schedule an interview time.
  • All interviews will be conducted in 106 Old Main

Notification of Employment Information

  • Candidates will be notified of their Employment status on a day to day basis via email and campus mail
  • Students will have 3 business days to turn in an acceptance of employment letter.
  • Letters should be signed and returned to the Residence Life and Housing & Dining Services Office in 106 Old Main.

Human Resources

  • Students will need to obtain their Work Authorization number and complete all clearances prior to beginning their employment as a Residence Hall Tour Guide

Residence Hall Tour Guide Job Description

The Residence Hall Tour Guide is an enthusiastic undergraduate Kutztown University Student, who is a member of the Residence Life and Housing & Dining Services team, and specifically the Residence Hall Tour Guide Team. The Residence Hall Tour Guide is responsible for conducting informative and welcoming Residence Hall Tours to potential incoming Kutztown University Students. The Residence Hall Tour Guide is a live-in, student employment position within Residence Life and Housing & Dining Services. The Residence Tour Guide is supervised by the Assistant Director for Residence Life.

The requirements to obtain and maintain the Residence Hall Tour Guide position are as follows: Must be a student living on campus, Must be willing to show their room, Must be available and flexible for tour guide times, Must attend all training sessions, Must have at least a 2.0 GPA, Must be in good financial and judicial standing with the University, Must clear a Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance and obtain all other necessary clearances, and must obtain a Work Authorization Number from HR. Residence Hall Student Tour Guides must feel comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people, and exemplify good communication skills. Students that are currently staff members of the Residence Life Team or other University Office may still apply. First Year Students are welcome to apply as well.

The Residence Hall Tour Guide is an hourly position, at $8.50 an hour. Based off of a 20 person team, Residence Hall Tour Guides will work approximately 15-25 hours a month, and will need to be available on tour Dates. Some months may be less due to the amount of tour dates. Tour dates and events will be given to Residence Hall Tour Guides upon application submission.

The Residence Hall Tour Guide is responsible for conducting Residence Hall Tours in all of the residence halls; Beck Hall, Berks Hall, Bonner Hall, Deatrick Hall, Dixon Hall, Golden Bear Village South and West, Honors Hall, Johnson Hall, Lehigh Hall, Rothermel Hall,  Schuylkill Hall, and University Place. Tours will consist of showing a student room or show room, and the common areas of the hall. The common areas will include: lobbies, lounges, recreation rooms/ basements, laundry facilities, trash rooms and kitchen rooms. Tour guides will be responsible for becoming familiar with the layout of each residence hall.

The Residence Hall Tour Guide will participate in Admissions Tours which includes Preview Days, Accepted Student Days, and Transfer Tours. They will also participate in any tours coordinated by the Connections Office. Tours coordinated by the Housing Office including Incumbent Tours will also be required. Tour guides must be available for the proposed dates of these tours each semester. Housing Student Tour Guides will need to be flexible when scheduling with tour dates.

The Residence Hall Tour Guide will be responsible for building a rapport with the prospective incoming students as well as their families. Residence Hall Tour Guides will be personable and friendly to the guests of our University.

The Residence Hall Tour Guides will be responsible for understanding and knowing the campus, and housing resources, and policies and procedures. They will answer questions and refer prospective students and families to the appropriate offices.

Residence Hall Tour Guides must be willing to show their room to prospective students. The Residence Hall Guides will keep their residence hall room organized, clean, and follow all Housing policies. The Residence Hall Tour Guide may also be responsible for touring the Show Rooms in the specific Halls.

The Residence Hall Tour Guides will meet with the Assistant Director periodically with the Residence Hall Tour Guide team for Staff Meetings to discuss the position, and to schedule specific tour dates.

The Residence Hall Tour Guide performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Associate Director, or Director of Housing, Residence Life and Dining Services.
