Biology Living Community

Biology LLC

This Living Learning Community will be INACTIVE for 2017-2018

The Biology Living Learning Community is designed to assist first year students by helping them successfully transition into their academic course of study in Biology.  This begins with a move-in day program for first year students and their families. Biology faculty assist students and their families with the move-in process.  In addition, Biology faculty meet with the new students and also with their parents to begin their orientation to the Biology Department.  The living-learning community program not only provides the opportunity for freshmen to live with other Biology majors, but Biology faculty provide informal programming in the dorm on topics such as: time management, study and test taking skills, and advisement.  Tutors also provide tutoring sessions right in the residence hall.  In addition, incoming freshmen are provided the opportunity to benefit from the Biology Department's Peer Mentoring Program.

All of these opportunities are designed to assist students as they acclimate to college academic life.  Incoming freshman can benefit from interacting with concerned faculty members and can also develop a connection with upper-class students in their majors who can help provide peer support as they meet the challenges of their first year at Kutztown University.  For more information about this opportunity, please contact: Dr. Dan Aruscavage (, Dr. Matt Stone (, or the Biology Department Chair Dr. Carol Mapes (
