Moving In

Find out more about your new living space.

You can view your room assignment information in Mykuhousing. If your assignment is not available, please check back. It will be posted once it is completed. You will need your KU ID and password to log on to your page to retrieve your room assignment.

What to bring to campus is often a difficult list to assemble before you pack. List of suggested items to bring

  • Air conditioners (portable or window units)
  • Appliances (hot plates, toaster ovens, rice cookers, etc.)
  • Candles and incense
  • Draperies
  • Grills (indoor/outdoor)
  • Halogen lamps
  • Heaters
  • Microwaves*
  • Pets (small aquarium tanks with fish only are permitted)

You will receive an email notification by mid-July informing you about:

  • Accessing your assignment and roommate information through Mykuhousing
  • Meningitis compliance information
  • How to request a preferred first name
  • Check-in information details

If you have not met your roommate(s), send them an email through Mykuhousing and introduce yourself. Now is a good time to talk about your interests, your families, why you chose Kutztown, and what each of you plans to bring with you. This way, you won't duplicate items like TVs, game consoles, or DVD players.

For a complete list of items that are prohibited in the residence area, refer to the Housing License.

If you are a new student it is imperative that you complete the meningitis compliance online.  Pennsylvania law requires universities that offer campus housing to maintain a file on resident students and their meningtis vaccine status.  This information must be on file with Health Administrative Services before a student can check into his/her room assignment.  Health Administrative Services will be sending new students a packet of information in the mail via the post office with instructions on how to complete. Please look for this important information which may already have been mailed to you and complete at least two weeks prior to your move-in date. Do not delay submitting this information as it will delay your check-in process.  If you did not receive this information, please contact the Health Administrative Services at 610-683-4082, option 2 & option 2 or click here.

The AlcoholEdu program is a two-part program that is a requirement for all new Kutztown University students. Part 1 must be completed before classes begin. You will receive an email with instructions for how to log on to the course, which takes approximately three hours to complete (you can take breaks as you go along). You will need a computer with Internet access and audio capability to complete the program. Visit the Health Promotions website for additional information.
