Tenure Track Position in Creative Writing & Poetry

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 9,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of English at Kutztown University invites applications for a tenure-track position with an emphasis in poetry writing and creative writing beginning Fall 2018.  In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service.  Required: Ph.D. in English, creative writing or a related field; or an MFA in creative writing. Experience teaching college-level composition and writing courses required.  

The 4/4 teaching load will include poetry writing, creative writing, college composition and other courses related to the candidate's qualifications, with opportunities to teach and develop upper-level courses.  A strong applicants will be an effective teacher with substantial creative publications, scholarly knowledge and a desire to be a part of the university's wider community.  Two years of college-level teaching required.  Successful interview and demonstration of teaching abilities required.
