Temporary Faculty Position in Graduate Reading

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Elementary, Middle Level, Library and Technologies Education (EMLT) at Kutztown University invites applications for a part-time, temporary faculty position for the Fall 2023 semester specializing in Responsive Literacy Assessment, Instruction and Intervention. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service. Required: A doctorate, master’s and bachelor’s degree in education; completion of a reading specialist program; reading specialist certification; a minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience in grades PreK-8; and experience as a literacy specialist or supervisor. A successful interview and demonstration lesson will be required. Preferred: evidence of effective teaching, service and scholarship in subject areas within professional settings related to teaching children, experience working with ELL students, experience supervising pre-service teachers or teachers, and experience working with diverse populations, publications, presentations.
