Tenure Track Position in Writing/Public Relations

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 9,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of English at Kutztown University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in writing/public relations beginning Fall 2018.  In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service. Required: MFA or Doctorate in Communication, English, or a closely related field, or ABD with conferral of degree by 12/31/2019.  Candidate must demonstrated evidence of recent, relevant professional experience in agency, corporate, or nonprofit public relations as well as a minimum of two years of experience teaching at the college or university level.

The Department of English seeks an engaged and engaging colleague to join its faculty and to teach courses that are part of its expanding public relations curriculum.  The 4/4 teaching load will include public relations writing and other public relations writing courses, such as writing for social media, research for public relations, storytelling for public relations, public relations ethics and law, and corporate public relations, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.  Successful interview and demonstration of teaching abilities required.
