10/22/2019 - New Email Protection - Safe Links and Safe Attachments
Clicking on links and opening attachments in email are the two most common ways in which accounts are compromised. On November 4th, Kutztown University will implement the Safe Links and Safe Attachments features (see below for more information on each feature) with your Microsoft Office 365 account to better protect you from phishing attempts and malicious software.
Safe Links
Proactively protects users from malicious links in a message. Malicious links are blocked while good links can be accessed. You may notice that the URL for links in your email are rewritten to look like https://…safelinks.protection.outlook.com…. This allows the links to be filtered through Microsoft’s Safe Links engine. Links to www.kutztown.edu will appear unchanged.
Safe Attachments
Checks message attachments for malware and removes them if malware is found. Unsafe attachments are removed while the body of the message continues on to the recipient. Safe Attachments can cause a small delay in email delivery, depending on the size of the attachment. You will receive a notification that the attachment has been removed.
Please remember, even with protection in place, always be cautious of suspicious links and attachments.
