Military and Veteran Graduation Honor Cords

In recognition of honorable military service to the United States of America, Kutztown University honors graduating military, veteran, and ROTC students by authorizing them to wear either a red, white, and blue honor cord with their commencement gown or their authorized military dress uniform with military decorations to their commencement ceremony.

Who:  All KU military, veteran, and ROTC cadet students who will be graduating in the upcoming commencement ceremony.

Eligibility:  Student-veterans who are currently serving, have been honorably discharged, and are ROTC cadets who will be commissioned upon graduation.  Student must be eligible to graduate and graduation eligibility will be verified with the Office of the Registrar.

Distribution: Cord distribution begins on:

  • Fall commencement - November 15 or later. Date will be announced each academic semester.
  • Spring commencement - April 15 or later. Date will be announced each academic semester.

Cords are available for pick up in the Veterans Services Center, MSU 262 from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. until the Monday prior to commencement. Students who are not using military education benefits may be asked to show either a copy of their DD214 (member 4 copy) or a valid military identification card. ROTC cadets must show proof that they will be commissioned upon graduation.

This cord is provided by Kutztown University's Office of Veterans Services.
