Preparing for Kutztown

Student at work in Computer lab
Registering for New Student Orientation is just the first step in starting your KU experience. Complete the following tasks before coming to New Student Orientation. Doing these before arriving will enhance your orientation experience.

1). Take the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment -
Please complete online assessment no later than two weeks before your New Student Orientation.

 ALEKS Math Placement
All new students must take the Aleks Math Placement Assessment. This is not a test. We will use this information to place you in the appropriate level of math. Please note: students who have been awarded transfer credit equivalent to MAT 017 (Introduction to Mathematics), or higher, are not required to take the math assessment. If you have questions or experience any technical issues, please contact Dr. Paul Ache, Chair of the Department of Mathematics, at or 610-683-4410. Need help? Watch our video -

2)Activate and Check Your KU Email
After paying the $275 Advance Registration Deposit, students will receive an official KU student email account. Activate this account right away. Read your email daily!

3).Thinking about changing your major?

Sometimes students change their mind about their major from the time they apply until the time they enroll. If you would like to request a change to your major, email the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (  Please make all change of major requests prior to attending orientation. This will help to avoid unnecessary delays.

4). You will have your photo taken at orientation. Remember to bring a valid form of photo I.D. such as a driver's license, school I.D. or passport.
