KU to hold in-person Spring Commencement
Dear KU Campus Community,
After careful consideration of all options, I am delighted to announce that Kutztown University will offer in-person commencement ceremonies this May for our spring 2021 and spring and fall 2020 graduates.
KU’s in-person spring commencement will include multiple ceremonies and will be held the weekend of May 7-9 at O’Pake Fieldhouse. The recent easing of indoor occupancy limits by Governor Wolf will allow us to offer each graduate up to two guest tickets for their respective ceremony.
While we hope to see continued improvement with the pandemic over the next two months, we will be implementing health and wellness protocols to maximize the safety of all involved with commencement. This includes requiring masks of all in attendance, social distancing, and possibly limiting the stage party. ALL students will have the opportunity to be acknowledged on stage, as we do in our traditional commencement ceremonies.
In addition, any KU employee will be excused who is not yet ready to work an in-person event. If, for any reason, the pandemic worsens in the weeks ahead, we will fall back on a virtual option.
We thank all the graduates who responded to the survey. We are so happy that we will be able to honor you with an in-person commencement ceremony this spring. It is so truly deserved after all you have endured over the past year.
More details on dates, times, tickets and other information will be available in the near future.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson
President
