Dr. David Beougher

Dr. Beougher Named Dean of College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University has named Dr. David Beougher, Lower Heidelberg Township, Berks County, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences effective immediately.  Beougher has served as interim dean since March, 2015.  He replaces Dr. Anne Zayaitz who was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at KU in May.  Beougher served as associate dean for the college since 2012.  Prior to that he was an assistant professor of history at the United States Military Academy at West Point and chair of the Department of Military Science and Leadership at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti.  He has had articles published on a variety of topics including medieval warfare and military logistics.

Dr. Anne Carroll

Dr. Carroll Named Dean of College of Business

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University has named Dr. Anne Carroll dean of the College of Business.  Carroll comes to KU from Rider University where she was the chair of the Finance and Economics Department.  She served as interim dean of the College of Business Administration at Rider from 2014-2015 and as associate dean of the college from 2011-2014. 

Carroll has been with Rider since 1986 when she joined the faculty as an instructor in finance.  She started her position at KU July 24.

Dr. Michelle Kiec

Dr. Kiec Named Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Dr. Michelle Kiec has been named dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Kutztown University, effective December 9. 

Kiec came to Kutztown University in 2012 as the associate dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts.  She served as acting dean for the College of Education in 2016 and was named interim dean for the College of Visual and Performing Arts in June of this year after the retirement of Dr. William Mowder.  Prior to her arrival in Kutztown, she spent nearly 12 years as an associate professor of music, department chair and coordinator of assessment and accreditation at the University of Mary, Bismarck, N.D.

Dr. Carissa Pokorny-Golden

Dr. Pokorny-Golden Named Associate Dean of College of Education

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University has named Dr. Carissa A. Pokorny-Golden, Hellertown, Northampton County, as associate dean of the College of Education effective May 13. She is currently serving as interim associate dean this semester. Pokorny-Golden has served as an associate professor of English and supervisor of secondary education at KU since 2004. Prior to that she taught English at Lehigh Carbon Community College and Pleasant Valley School District, Monroe County.

Dr. Karen Rauch

Dr. Rauch Named Associate Dean of College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Dr. Karen L. Rauch has been named associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  Rauch, who has served as interim associate dean since July 2015, has been with the university since 2001 and she served as chair of the Department of Modern Language Studies from 2010-2014. 

In her new position, Rauch will be responsible for coordinating course schedules and faculty workloads for 14 departments, overseeing assessment for all departments in the college, awarding and tracking all college scholarships, advocating for students and offering academic support services.

Dr. John Ward

Dr. John Ward Named Interim Dean of College of Education

August 15, 2017

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Dr. John Ward has been named interim dean of the College of Education at Kutztown University effective August 7.  Ward comes to KU from Millersville University where he served as the interim associate dean of the College of Education and Human Services for the past two years. "Dr. Ward will be an invaluable resource to Kutztown University as we take on the search for a new dean," said Dr. Anne Zayaitz, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at KU.  "His extensive experience both as an administrator and in the classroom will serve KU well."

Dr. Carole Wells

Dr. Carole Wells Named Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Dr. Carole V. Wells became Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2008.  Previously, she was the Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for four years and taught in the Psychology Department for eight years. She earned a Ph.D. in social psychology and human resource management from Temple University, an M.S. in social psychology from Temple University, an M.A. in counseling psychology from Kutztown University, and a B.A. in psychology from LaSalle University.

In addition to co-authoring the book Service-learning Code of Ethics, Dr. Wells has presented and published on the pedagogy of service-learning, ethical issues in research in international service-learning, and power, trust, strategies of influence, conflict resolution, and leadership in organizations.

She has served on numerous boards, including Friend, Inc., Habitat for Humanity, Pennsylvania Society of Teaching Scholars, Pennsylvania Institute for Children's Environmental Health, Goodwill Industries, Berks Encore, and Kutztown University Foundation and Alumni Boards.
