Our Mission

A minor in Women's Studies contributes to the university's vision in that it:

  • Pursues commitment to academic excellence.
  • Provides opportunities to increase appreciation and knowledge of the physical universe, of human society, of cultural diversity and of values through general education, major study, and co-curricular programming.
  • Develops the ability to think critically and constructively; to read, write, and speak effectively; and to exercise good judgment.
  • Provides a quality of campus life that encourages the growth of self-esteem, respect for the beliefs of others, and the open exchange of ideas.
  • Responds to the diverse needs of society by ensuring equal access to its educational programs and services without regard for race, gender, creed, age, or national origin.
  • Offers a variety of professional and pre-professional programs that combine the broadening effects of the liberal arts and sciences with progressively specialized studies and experiences, including an optional internship leading to careers and entry-level professional competencies.
  • Contributes to the increase of knowledge through the encouragement of research and creative activities.
  • Serves as a center for cultural activities.
