Message from President Hawkinson and Vice President Hilton

April 10, 2017

Dear KU Campus Community,

I am writing to reaffirm the importance of advocating for an environment wherein all those associated with Kutztown University can feel valued and safe.

Over the weekend, we became aware of a poster that was displayed on campus promoting a group not affiliated with the university.

While we must keep in mind that all individuals have the right to free speech on our campus, our university rejects all forms of racism, bigotry and discrimination.  This includes displays against the religious groups who are celebrating this special time of year, such as our Jewish community, which is currently celebrating Passover, and our Christian community, which is celebrating Easter events throughout the next week.

Please be reminded that if you feel the need to access specific resources as an individual or with a group, or feel that you have been harassed or discriminated against, please reach out to trusted offices on campus including the following:

Faith-based Organizations (via Office of the Dean of Students): (610) 683-1396
GLBTQ Resource Center: (484) 646-4111
KU Police: (610) 683-4002
Office of the Dean of Students: (610) 683-1396
Office of Multicultural Services: (610) 683-4197
Office of Social Equity: (610) 683-4700
University Counseling Center: (610) 683-4072
Women's Center: (610) 683-4655

Sincerely,

Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson
President
