          Dr. Garman’s extensive academic and professional career enables him to incorporate experiences from diverse environments into Kutztown University’s Bachelor of Science Sport Management degree program. With over 32 years in the college classroom, he demonstrates an ongoing ability to effectively promote student learning within the disciplines of Health, Physical Education and Sport Management. Concurrent with his successful teaching, he pursues a scholarly agenda that resulted in numerous publications. These include authoring the textbooks, Sport and Recreation Operations: Experiential Learning in Sport Management and Exploring Health: A Problem-Based Inquiry, writing multiple publications in refereed, professional journals including Education, The International Electronic Journal of Health Education, The Journal of American College Health, and The Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, and presenting at numerous national professional conferences. Additionally, Dr. Garman’s professional experiences, outside of the academic environment, enable him to bring a wealth of practical knowledge to the Sport Management classroom. He has successfully functioned as a senior administrator in community recreation, corporate wellness, and cardiac rehabilitation programs with a broad array of responsibilities that included, program development and implementation, budget development and oversight, fundraising, human resources management, facility operations and management, construction oversight, marketing and advertising, and media relations. These collective activities have resulted in consulting opportunities in program evaluation and curriculum design.
