Student Entrepreneur Panel - Academic Forum - Room 200 - 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Undergrads and Alumni share their business experiences. 

Andrew Morris, Aspiring Non-Profit Entrepreneur & Entrepreneurship Club Operations Officer. Currently volunteering as the Lead Event Coordinator,Transporter,  and Kennel Assistant for CHAR-WILLS Non-profit German Shepherd Rescue. CHAR-WILLS rescued and re-homed 141 shepherds in 2016. Andrew hopes to start his own non-profit.

Luis Bardales Jr., Owner of LBJ Media & Entrepreneurship Club President. LBJMedia provides creative media solutions for consumers and businesses in the Lehigh Valley that uses storytelling to market business products, services, and messages.

John Merlino Jr, an alumnus with a BA in Anthropology, started his own business, JMJ Jewelry Design, while he was an undergraduate
in 2012. At JMJ Jewelry Design, an ecommerce business, John always strives to produce his best work. With a close attention to detail focused on craftsmanship, John sources the finest materials in the creation of wearable sculptures. Using social media, predominantly Instagram, he develops and promotes his unique brand targeting value-sensitive clients. John is currently a graduate assistant in the MBA program.

Kristopher Gelsinger, is in his junior year at Kutztown University, studying Sport Management with a Dual Minor in Coaching and Fitness Administration. Kristopher is the Owner and Head coach for a Non-Profit Wrestling Academy, Team Kage Wrestling. He is also the Assistant
Director and Head Coach for the Reading Youth Wrestling Program. When Kristopher is not on the mat or doing schoolwork, he is an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast.

Hailee Cruz, is a senior business management major graduating in May. Currently, she is an Independent Distributor of cosmetics and the Director of Marketing for the Kutztown Entrepreneurship Club. Her lifetime goals are to travel the world and start-up a dog rescue and event center.

First Steps to Starting a Business facilitated by Ernie Post, Executive Director of Kutztown SBDC. Room 250 in McFarland Student Union Building; Thursday 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Register   (Registration Required)

Facilitated by Dr. Ernie Post, attendees will learn how to build unique lifestyle requirements involved in owning a business, how to assess the feasibility of their business idea, learn the differences between business organization structures, how to develop a business plan and how to obtain financing and the necessary applications and licenses needed to start their company.  

Ernie Post has been director of Kutztown University's Small Business Development Center since 1988. Under his leadership, the center was recognized in 2007 and 2008 by the U.S. Small Business Administration as an SBDC center of excellence for innovation and quality. In 2007, Post helped launch the Latino Business Resource Center. Today the SBDC serves as a National Best Practice Site for the Small Business Development Center national network. More recently, the center has been recognized for its leadership with its cooperative effort with the Berks County Community Foundation to launch a brick-and-mortar incubator for business startups in Reading. Dr. Post received his master's degree in business and a doctorate in education from Pennsylvania State University.

This workshop will be facilitated by Small Business Development Center Graduate Assistants, Gabriella Smith and John Merlino, Jr.  Attendees will learn the impact Social Media has on their business and which platforms they should be utilizing for success.
