Dr. Catherine McGeehan
Associate Professor at Kutztown University
Dr. Catherine McGeehan is an Associate Professor of Education at Kutztown University and the coordinator for the Graduate Reading and Instructional Coaching Programs at Kutztown University. Before making the transition to higher education, Catherine held many K-12 positions in both The Radnor Township School District and the School District of Philadelphia. Her most recent K-12 position was “Literacy Coordinator” for the Radnor Township School District. Catherine also served as a building literacy coach and 1st-grade teacher in Radnor. Catherine began her teaching career in Philadelphia. There she taught several different grade levels and served as a "Teacher Collaborator." This role enabled her to work with new teachers across the district in an effort to develop and refine their teaching practices.
Currently, Catherine is on the Board of Directors for the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers (ALER), co-chair of “The By Laws Committee” of the Association of Literacy Educators(ALER), Past President and current member of the Pennsylvania Literacy Teacher Educators (PLTE), Past President of the Delaware Valley Reading Association (DVRA) and a member of several other literacy organizations including ASCD, ILA & KSLA.
Catherine’s research has been published in several journals including: The Reading Teacher, Literacy Research and Instruction and the Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education. Catherine has also presented at many International, national and state conferences including ASCD, ILA, ALER and KSLA. Additionally, she has conducted numerous workshops and training sessions for local school districts.
