The Kutztown University Department of Music offers a wide variety of exciting choral music opportunities. Choose from large and small ensembles and great music in all styles, periods, levels of difficulty, and genres. Singers perform each semester in major venues including the newly-renovated 826-seat Schaeffer Auditorium and other concert spaces around the region. Members of the KU choral program may also participate in the annual PCCA (Pennsylvania Collegiate Choral Association) Festival. Singers from PA colleges and university choral programs join forces for a three-day festival under the direction of a nationally or internationally renowned guest conductor to perform challenging choral repertoire in a non-competitive setting.

Choral membership is open by audition to everyone: students from all majors across the campus, community members, and vocal and instrumental music majors. Ability to sing in tune with good tone quality and hold your own part is expected, and a desire to sing and to develop one's vocal skills. Music sight reading ability and prior singing experience are helpful, though not required for entry into most ensembles.

University Choir is a large traditional concert choral ensemble. It performs music of all eras, from ancient to contemporary, both a cappella and with instrumental accompaniment, including major works for chorus and orchestra. Membership is by simple audition.

Vocal Ensemble explores repertoire of all styles for small ensembles, with or without instruments. With models of professional contemporary choral groups, singers in Vocal Ensemble develop advanced musicianship skills and initiative in the creative process. Since Vocal Ensemble takes a focused and individually engaging approach to high-level music making, prior ensemble singing experience and sight-reading ability are required.

Chamber Singers is a smaller traditional "madrigal" style group. Its repertoire focuses mainly on a cappella music of all eras, but particularly Renaissance and early Baroque classical small ensemble music.

Bear Voices focuses on "pop" music, both a cappella and accompanied.

After Hours performs vocal jazz, usually with a small instrumental combo.

A student-run group called Kutztones sings recent contemporary pieces arranged by student members of the group.
