Bachelor of Arts in Music - Performance Emphasis

The B.A. in Music Performance allows students to concentrate on performance within a liberal arts degree. The Performance concentration provides a strong fundamental musicianship base and is designed for the music major who can demonstrate outstanding performance skills and the required devotion and commitment that comes with a demanding practice schedule. Students will also acquire entrepreneurial, personal and practical skills necessary for success in the 21st century.

The B.A. in Music - Commercial Music degree is designed for students who wish to focus their studies in the vast area of the commercial music industry (such as recording engineer, arts administration, performance of popular music, and other positions in the music industry). Students interested in commercial performance are encouraged to add the Jazz Minor.

Dedicated students who meet degree requirements for both performance and music education can complete dual degrees in these fields. Through careful curricular planning with an advisor and wise use of electives the dual degree can usually be achieved in four and a half years with the use of occasional summer or intersession courses. Students in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education must complete a minimum of 150 credits to be awarded dual degrees. Please see each degree for requirements.
