BA MusicWith a Bachelor of Arts in Music, students have the benefit of taking electives in areas of special interest. Students take crucial fundamental classes in subjects such as harmony and theory, aural skills, conducting, music history, and applied music. We are confident that our combination of superb mentoring by renowned artists/teachers, small class sizes, diverse performance opportunities, and a well-rounded curriculum will help all students on the road to success.

Flexible Programs

  • Specialized study in a number of areas including performance and composition
  • Allows student to combine this degree with another field of study to receive two degrees or allows students to complete minor studies in another field such as electronic media, business, psychology, entrepreneurship, or general studies.
  • Prepares students for graduate studies in music and a variety of other areas
  • Internships available throughout the Eastern U.S. in a wide range of fields designed to meet student interests

Strong Musicianship Emphasis

  • Four years of private lessons with applied faculty culminating with a senior recital
  • Large ensemble experiences each semester including orchestra, wind ensemble, choir or jazz ensemble plus additional opportunities such as wind and string chamber ensembles, operas and jazz combos
  • Opportunities to participate in various events such as in master classes, weekly studio classes, weekly student recitals, a concerto competition and ensemble and required degree recitals
  • Wide range of required and elective music courses

Committed Undergraduate Education

  • Small classes taught by distinguished artist-faculty dedicated to teaching and mentoring the musical development of its students.
  • Students are never taught by graduate assistants
  • Students from their first semester through their senior year are constantly involved in a wide range of performing experiences often delegated to graduate students at larger institutions.
  • Writing and communication skills emphasized as a core component of a high-quality general education
  • Each student is assigned an advisor and is frequently monitored for successful progress toward department goals and expectations.
