Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the M.Ed. in Music Education, each student will be able to:

  1. Apply and reflect upon changes in teaching (pedagogy) and thinking (philosophy) that will be applicable to a public school curriculum.
  2. Articulate and implement a personal and professional music philosophy that will further inform career choices and progression.
  3. Articulate In-depth knowledge of historical and philosophical perspectives of music education practices.
  4. Articulate In-depth knowledge of current developments and changes in the field of music education and education as a whole.
  5. Apply research and data-gathering tools to better assess teaching and learning.
  6. Analyze and apply research tools to better understand and evaluate the human-music experience, both in descriptive and experimental areas.
  7. Analyze and apply various advanced models of instructional and assessment design.
  8. Synthesize and apply advanced practical and contextual knowledge of contemporary music history, theory, aesthetics, performance, sociological and cultural connections, co-curricular connections, and world application all related to music and the arts.
