Actuarial Sciences

Actuaries are business professionals who deal with the financial impact of risk and uncertainty, analyze, manage and measure the financial implications of future risk, develop and validate models and communicate results to guide decision-making.

The Actuarial Science minor is a program designed to satisfy the needs of students interested in actuarial careers, especially in business. The Actuarial Science program at KU will give you the fundamental knowledge and skills vital to meeting the demands of an actuarial career. The Actuarial Science minor will prepare you for two of the required national actuarial exams.   

This program is taught by the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Business Administration.

Admission Requirements

Transfer students must have a combined GPA of 2.25 or higher from all institutions they previously attended.
