Bachelor of Fine Arts in:

Studio Art

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art exposes students to a variety of approaches and media ranging from traditional to digital. This is an exciting and fast moving time period within contemporary art where students do original artistic research and create in experimental forms and contexts. Following a foundational year studying drawing, design, and art history, students select courses that best serve their creative and intellectual interests in art creation, acquiring an in-depth understanding of their chosen medium through a concentration in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture or time-based/experimental art.

This program is taught by the Department of Art and Art History.

Galleries and Exhibitions

The KU community holds the visual arts in very high regard, with multiple opportunities to display and view art on campus and in the borough of Kutztown:

  • Marlin and Regina Miller Gallery, KU's premier gallery, hosts group exhibitions by professional artists of national and international reputation, senior exhibitions (group shows by majors), and site specific installations created as part of our artist residency program
  • Eckhaus Gallery, located in a store front on Main Street in Kutztown, is completely student run. Students curate and install shows, direct summer art camps, create publicity, manage the business, and plan visual arts events with the regional community.
  • Writing Center Gallery, located in Old Main, features group shows by KU studio art majors.
  • Sharadin Art Building offers constantly changing displays of student classwork.
