Acceptance (Graduate)

Welcome to the Graduate Studies program at Kutztown University. Please follow these steps to assist you with getting started in your graduate course work:

Step I - Seek Advisement:

Accepted degree candidates will find the name of their academic advisor as well as contact information through their MyKU portal.  Please contact your advisor to discuss your curriculum prior to registering for  course work.

Professional credit students (non-degree) should contact the academic department in which they are taking course work for assistance. Contact information is included with the acceptance folder.

Step 2- Register for classes:

Registration is completed through MyKU.  Your network ID and password will allow you to enter the site.  Please keep in mind that login information is case-sensitive.

Step 3 - Make arrangements for payment:

Included with the acceptance folder is information regarding the billing cycles as well as payment plan information and deferred billing options. All outstanding accounts must be reconciled by the first day of school. Please contact the Office of Student Accounts for further assistance. Questions regarding loan deferment should be directed to the Financial Aid Services Office.

Step 4 - Activate your KU email account:

As part of your acceptance, KU provides a campus email account.  You will receive important updates and communications from campus faculty and staff through this account, so please be sure to log in regularly.  Click to access your mailbox.  For any difficulties logging into your, please contact the IT Help Desk at (610) 683-1511 for assistance. 

Step 5 - Search for Textbooks and other course materials:

The KU bookstore can supply you with a complete list of all required textbooks of each of your graduate classes. Textbooks and other supplemental materials can be purchased online!

Step 6 - Obtain your Student I.D. Card:

All graduate student (both degree and non-degree) should obtain a student identification card through the KU Card Office.  Access to the library databases from off campus locations can only be obtained by students who possess a valid i.d.  The first card is free.  Replacement cards are $15.

Step 7 - Obtain a parking decal:

Students who will be on-campus prior to 4:30pm from Monday through Friday must obtain a parking permit for their vehicle(s). Students can pre-register their vehicles through  The cost of registration is $50 for the academic year or $30 for one semester. Multiple vehicles may be registered at this cost. Decals may be picked up at Public Safety & Police Services office (Old Main 13).  This office is located in the basement level of the building.  Office hours during the academic year (fall/spring) are M-F 8am to 4:30 p.m.  Summer hours, M-F 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  YOU MUST BRING YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE AND VEHICLE REGISTRATION WITH YOU WHEN PICKING UP YOUR DECAL. Students who will not be on campus prior to 4:30pm do not need to purchase a decal.

Financial Aid: If you are interested in deferring a previous student loan or have questions regarding financial aid, please contact the Financial Aid Services Office.

Orientation:   Orientation (CONNECTIONS) for new students will be held on campus.
