KUR students accept finalist trophies at IBS awards

Choose KUR

By Alyssa Clark '16

If you choose KU, you could be part of an award-winning radio station.

Kutztown University Radio (KUR) placed in four of the finalist categories in the 76th Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) College Radio Awards in New York City.

The finalist categories include: Best Sports Program for Anthony Marchetto's "Two Cents Sports Radio," Best Community News Programming for Shantae Taylor's "Kutztown Live," Best Promotion Director for KUR's Brandon Conniff and Best Radio Station at a University with under 10,000 Enrollment.

Eighteen students and advisor Mike Regensburger attended the March 2016 Ceremony.  This was the biggest year in competition, as more schools participated in the IBS Awards than ever before.

In recent years, KUR has taken home the "Golden Microphone" for Best News Interview and Best Use of Social Media.

Here at Kutztown, KUR has twice been rated "Best Gold Student Organization" on campus.  The station also was named the recipient of KU's "Best Cultural Experiences" award this past spring for the KU organization that "demonstrated that they have provided valuable cultural experiences to members of the organization and the KU community."

KUR is a proven essential learning component in many academic programs across campus including Electronic Media, Communication Studies, Physical Sciences and Professional Writing.
