Other Options to Pay for College

Pay Using a Payment Plan

Payment plans divide a semester's cost into 3, 4, or 5 payments plus  a non-refundable processing fee.

Please contact the Office of Student Accounts to inquire about payment plans or visit the website here.

Alternative Loans

The student is the borrower in these non-federal loans and will need a creditworthy cosigner. Deferment of principle and interest is an option. Alternative loans may be used as a supplement or in place of Stafford and PLUS loans. To request an alternative loan application and to inquire about loan fees,  interest rates, and repayments schedules, the following suggested lenders can be viewed at

Please visit to see KU's recommended lender list for alternative loans.

To understand why KU picked these lenders, please read about the selection process. Please see our Lender Code of Conduct.

Borrowers have the right to select any lender they choose. Recommended lenders have been selected based on competitive pricing, borrower benefits, and service to borrowers and the school.
