Dr. Earl Reeves

Professor Emeritus of Anthropology and Sociology
Difference Maker

Nominator: John Shults '70

John's Memories: Earl Y. Reeves, a sociology professor, is a very strong memory for me. He pitched our discussions of various philosophers and sociologists high and hard, and we had to work to assimilate and understand the material and concepts.

After Kutztown, I earned a master's in social work from Bryn Mawr College and spent my social work career working in child welfare and developmental disabilities. Dr. Reeves's teachings were highly influential in terms of my understanding of human behavior and needs. In effect, he has been with me ever since those classes.

In retirement, I have been a substitute teacher for all grades, and Dr. Reeves is still influencing me.

Dr. Reeves passed away in 2009.
