Christina's Memories: I consider Dr. Simpson to be a mentor who helped me get to where I am today. He gave me a chance, and I was able to assist him with research throughout my time in the geology department.

In his class, we had the chance to present our poster at a Geological Society of America (GSA) meeting, and also to publish research. I believe those opportunities gave me an edge when applying for graduate school and for the various jobs I have held.

Dr. Simpson also gave me support when I decided to apply for graduate school. In fact, I was torn between paleontology and mining because I enjoyed working with Dr. Simpson so much.

To this day, I still enjoy paleontology because of his enthusiasm, not only in the classroom, but also for his research. He was an excellent teacher.
