Information for students, faculty, staff

Important Inauguration information for students; faculty and staff:

For faculty and staff who RSVP'd to process - please arrive at the robing area, Schaeffer Auditorium, room. 13G by 10:15 a.m.  Ushers will be available to direct you to the embarkation point where you will join the procession.

For students, faculty and staff who RSVP'd and are not processing please be in the Auditorium by 10:45 a.m.

Following the ceremony, please join us for an outdoor reception on Alumni Plaza.  There will be refreshments, entertainment and an opportunity to personally congratulate Dr. Hawkinson and wish him well.

Since we will have many guests attending the inauguration on campus on Friday, April 15, 2016, many of whom are elderly, we have designated lots B-1; F-1 and F-3 as reserved parking only.  Alternate parking for KU students, faculty and staff is as follows:

  • For those who normally park in B-1 (Grim lot) we suggest B-3 (adjacent to softball field).
  • For those who use F-1 (Stratton lot) or F-3 (Old Main lot), we suggest F-2 (Kemp lot), or E-2 (Rec Center lot).
  • Anyone who has a handicap placard, or other ambulatory issues that requires a closer space than the alternatives provided, can request a special pass for the day by contacting

SCHAEFFER AUDITORIUM is completely full.  If you have not previously RSVP'D we will not be able to accommodate you in Schaeffer.  There is overflow seating in Rickenbach, room 135.  Also, the ceremony will be web-streamed on the KU website and will be televised through the university cable access channels on both the Hometown Utilicom and Service Electric systems.  The stream can be accessed at

For those faculty who have classes at 11 a.m. on Friday, please note that students may be late for classes as the crosswalk from south campus to north campus will be closed from 10:40 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016, to allow for the Presidential Inauguration Processional to pass through.

Students who normally use the crosswalk will be directed to College Boulevard to cross Main Street.
