Become an International Ambassador!

The Office of International Admissions and Services is seeking current KU students to volunteer as International Ambassadors. Ambassadors will help new incoming international students with their transition to KU in the following ways:

  • Communicating with incoming students via emails or other channels prior to their arrival
  • Helping new students move in during orientation
  • Being available to meet or talk during the students' first semester at KU

There are many benefits to becoming an international Ambassador:

  • Gain service and volunteer hours 
  • Exhibit and build upon leadership and mentoring skills
  • Learn about new cultures and places
  • Develop intercultural communication skills
  • Make new friends!

Commitment to this program requires the following:

  • Attend a group interview
  • Attend a two hour training program
  • Email and communicate with new incoming international students prior to their arrival at KU
  • Come to campus on or before new international student move-in (the week before classes begin)
  • Be available to assist during orientation week (the week before classes begin)
  • Meet 1-2 times with new student(s) during the first semester
