CHAMBLISS GOLD MEDAL: CAELAN BROOKS
Caelan Brooks, Bear, Delaware, is a physics major graduating in May. She is awarded the Chambliss Academic Achievement Award Gold Medal in the category of successfully-completed research project. Brooks has conducted high-quality physics research that has led to innovations in two separate areas of physics: atomic molecular and optical (AMO) physics and biophysics, resulting in one peer-reviewed paper published and three more in development. Her work has been recognized by multiple awards and by acceptances into some of the top physics doctorate programs in the world. Brooks will continue her education at Harvard University. Read More.

GAMMA THETA UPSILON INITIATION CEREMONY
Congratulations to the following outstanding Kutztown University students who were inducted into the Gamma Psi Chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon, the International Geographical Honor Society, Thursday, April 22: Zachary Glass, Abby Pastir, John Sandala and Michael Skamarakus. A search for qualified students will be conducted next spring in advance of our next annual initiation ceremony.

Slow-approaching front brings lots of clouds today along with the chance for showers and thunderstorms, any of which could be locally heavy and provide some drenching downpours. It will still be warm, although not as warm as yesterday. Highs today closer to 75 with breezy southwest winds.

BEST PAPER AT ANNUAL PASSHE COMPUTING CONFERENCE
On Saturday, April 10, Dale Parson of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology won the Best Faculty Paper Award for “Simulated Contact Tracing of COVID-19 Propagation at Kutztown University for Fall 2020,” at the 36th Annual Spring Conference of the Pennsylvania Computer and Information Science Educators. Patrick Earl presented “Assessing a Scholarship Program for Underrepresented Students in Computer Science and Information Technology” and students Faith Evans and Alexis Peoples presented research posters. https://research.library.kutztown.edu/cisfaculty/13/

This is a one-and-a-half-day event with keynote speakers, faculty presentations, roundtable/panel discussions and more.
