The Daily Brief

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced today that the Kutztown University Small Business Development Center's Jump Start Diversity (JSD) will receive a $50,000 grant for their Food Accelerator IDEA (Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship Accelerator).  The grant comes as part of the Growth Accelerator Fund competition which attracted applications from across the country.  Finalists were reviewed by a panel of experts in entrepreneurship, investing and business plans from both within the government and the private sector. Kutztown University is one of 80 grant recipients.  This is the second consecutive year that the KU SBDC has been awarded this grant.   KU is one of only two grants awarded in Pennsylvania.

Mostly to variably cloudy today as our low pressure and frontal system exit stage right. Periods of rain showers, some on the heavier side, will slowly diminish as the day goes on. Up to about a half inch of additional rainfall is possible with locally higher amounts. South winds will swing around to the west later in the day. Highs remain below average for this time of year. Expect no better than the upper 70s to about 80.

If you are contacted directly, please do not respond with any information regarding your departmental equipment. Neither the KU Procurement Services Dept, nor our authorized copier dealer Edwards Business, are currently working on any project requiring information. 

How should you handle these calls?  You can either: politely tell the caller that you are not authorized to release that information; forward their call to anyone in our department; advise the caller to contact the KU Procurement Services Dept; or simply terminate the call.
