Any lingering morning clouds from our exiting cold front should quickly give way to mainly sunny skies. Nice low humidity and soft cool breezes from the west will make Tuesday afternoon a Top 10. Highs around 78.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

MONDAY WALKS WITH WYNNIE
Students, faculty and staff are invited to take a walk with Dr. Hawkinson and his dog Wynnie on several Mondays throughout the semester.  Walkers can meet at 5:30 p.m. on the patio behind the president's residence for a 45-minute walk around campus ending with light refreshments at the president's residence.  Walks will take place Aug. 31, Sept. 14, Sept. 21 and Oct. 19.  The walks will be canceled in the event of rain.  Other dogs are welcome to attend.  Pet waste bags will be provided.

BOOKSTORE ACCOUNTS
Do you have a student, or know a student, who is struggling to buy books?  Help us to help them!  If they have authorized pending financial aid and are just awaiting a refund - they MAY be eligible for a bookstore account at our very own KU Campus Bookstore.  There are requirements and not all students are eligible.  Encourage them to view our website for more information and submit a request to the Financial Aid Office today! http://www.kutztown.edu/costs-and-financial-aid/office-of-student-accounts/refunds/temporary-bookstore-account.htm

1.       Accounts must be in good standing - no holds.
2.       Accounts must be expecting a refund (more pending aid or payments than charges).
3.       Student must have granted TWO specific permissions to use aid to cover these expenses.
4.       Purchases are only for REQUIRED text books, rental books if they have a credit card, clickers for larger classes, and other required items.  The account is not good for optional items, office supplies, clothing or food.
5.       One account per person per semester.
6.       3 different account amounts - $200, $500 or $750.
7.       Account can be ready as quickly as 2 business days!
8.       Complete the form and turn into Financial Aid today!

Catholic Mass is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12:10 p.m. at the Saint Christopher Catholic Newman Center. Weekend Mass is held on Sunday at 9 p.m. All are welcome.

KU ORCHESTRA
Welcome KU community! Your KU Orchestra is excited to welcome new members to the ensemble. We meet from 4:30-5:50 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Our concerts this semester are on Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 6 at 3 p.m. We would love to have more faculty participate in this ensemble. For those of you advising students, the orchestra is available to all students (by informal audition) and they can participate even if they don't have room to add it to their schedules. Rehearsals start on Thursday, August 27. Our first concert is titled "Fanciful & Fantastic" - Music that Stirs the Imagination from Bach, Beethoven, Berlioz, Rachmaninoff, Saint-Saens, and Williams. TECH TUESDAYS: DID YOU KNOW...?
You can send an email to everyone enrolled in a course by using the email feature of the Classlist? This simple, three-step process allows you to send a mass email to all, or select, users in a course. Simply navigate to the Classlist in your course and click the "Email Classlist" button, compose your email, and click send! Kutztown University's Golden Bear, is available to make your event golden!  Avalanche can entertain, mingle, and be the hit of any show.  To book Avalanche, complete a reservation request on our website at http://www.kutztown.edu/about-ku/administrative-offices/avalanche/request-an-appearance.htm or email us at avalanche@kutztown.edu .  Please submit your appearance request at least two weeks prior to your event. All reservations will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis and will be fulfilled depending on performer availability.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GOLF OUTING
The Men's Basketball staff is hosting the 6th annual scholarship golf outing on Friday, September 11. It will be held at Rich Maiden Golf Course in Fleetwood, Pa. 1 p.m. shot-gun start. $100.00 for a single golfer/$400.00 for a foursome. If you do not golf and would like to sponsor a hole signage, it is $100.00. If you would like additional information please contact Tom York at tyork@kutztown.edu.
