The Daily Brief

(Click Here for the Central Calendar)

1 - 2 p.m.          Clinical Services Closed

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Partly Sunny, continued very toasty, and muggy. Showers & thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening as a cool front approaches. High in the low 90s.

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

August 10, 1907: Nearly 3,000 people turn out for Kutztown Day at the Kutztown Park. The highlight of the day is the rededication of the Centennial Statue, originally built on the Keystone State Normal School campus in 1876. It was moved from campus due to the construction of the current Old Main and moved to the park. A new inscription at the bottom notes the rededication and the Kutztown Patriot notes that the new location is permanent; however, the statue would later be moved to the Kutztown Historical Society.

Clinical Services will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 16, from 1 - 2 p.m. for a staff development meeting.

On behalf of the entire MSU staff, we are excited to share that Mr. Burke Loxley, Jr. has joined our team as the new Technical Services Coordinator.  Burke will be coordinating all of the technical services support, supervising the student audio visual techs and handling the tech and a/v support for all major events in the MSU.  If you are holding an event in the MSU, you will want to meet Burke!  Please help us welcome him and feel free to stop by MSU 274 or drop him a note via email:

KU Campus Store will not be able to inflate balloons as we no longer have a helium tank.  The rental of the helium tank made the cost of these balloons prohibitive, and we were not comfortable passing that cost on to our customers.  We will continue to carry maroon and gold latex balloons, but we will not be able to inflate them.  Thank you for your understanding.
