ALL DAY                Fall 2016 Semester begins!

TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

High pressure over Nova Scotia begins to lose control allowing a moisture deprived cold front to pass through the region today. Sunny skies are expected most of the day. High temperature in the upper 80s. Winds northwest at 6 mph.

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

In August, 1923, it is announced that Keystone State Normal School will once again form a football team.  K.S.N.S. had fielded teams from 1898 to 1905 when several serious injuries caused the school to abandon the sport for 18 years.  The "Keys" went 5-3 in 1923 under coach Harold Runyeon.

150TH TIME CAPSULE BURIAL, THURS., SEPT. 15, 11 A.M., ALUMNI PLAZA
As part of the Sesquicentennial we are going to bury a 50-year time capsule, a message to 2066 about our institution in 2016, enhancing the 200th anniversary of KU. Historians suggest that items which describe the daily lives of the people who created them, such as personal notes, pictures, and documents, would greatly increase the value of the time capsule to future viewers. Please submit your objects with stories to Tammy Wert, Schock Education House, before August 31, 2016.
Bill Bateman, Professor Emeritus and Sesquicentennial History Committee
