ALL DAY                First Friday Discount, KU Bookstore

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

High pressure holds on just long enough to keep the day mostly dry. Cloud cover will be increasing throughout the day as moisture increases and a cold front approaches. Skies will be overcast by late afternoon with a threat of showers and storms by the evening. High temperature in the mid 80s. Winds south at 5-7 mph.

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

August 5, 1905:  Despite the repeated objections by Dr. Rothermel, principal of Keystone State Normal School, the board of trustees approves painting the tower on Old Main red.  The Kutztown Patriot reports it is the first time the tower has been any color other than white.  Whether or not the tower was actually painted red is a mystery since no photos exist of a red tower from that era.  If it was red, it was shortlived.

As we prepare for the Fall semester, KU Campus Store is attempting to ensure all course material information on our website is accurate and complete.  There are several reasons why some information may be incomplete; including a professor not being assigned for a class yet, waiting for information from a publisher, or low enrollment for an individual class.  Otherwise, textbooks and required materials need to be listed on our website to be compliant with the HEOA (Higher Education Opportunity Act).

We are reaching out to faculty and asking that they please take a minute and check to make sure their courses are listed on our website with accurate information.  If your course and section do not appear, we may have not received your textbook adoption yet.  After reviewing your courses, please feel free to contact our textbook department with any questions at ext. 34037.

To check the textbooks for your class:

  1. Visit
  2. Click on Textbooks
  3. Click on  "Shop and Compare our textbook prices"
  4. Select  Fall 2016
  5. Choose the department, course, and section
  6. Repeat this for all your courses (they will appear on the right side of your screen)
  7. Click Compare Prices On These Course Materials button
  8. Click Begin Price Comparison button

From here you will see our comparison tool.  Look for the "From KU Campus Store" selections.

Thank you for assisting us to get all course material information out to the students and keeping the University compliant with HEOA.  Just a reminder, if you are not requiring a book for your course, we should list that on our site also.  You just need to let us know.  Also, by sending your students to KU Campus Store for their course materials, you are ensuring that they will have the right material, at the right time and at the most competitive price.  Please feel free to put our website on your syllabus.
