The Golden Bear Campus community (i.e., campus students, faculty, staff and their immediate families) are invited to view the eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. outside of Grim Science Building, weather permitting. The eclipse begins at ~1:15 p.m. and peaks locally at ~2:45 p.m., with about 75% coverage of the Sun by the Moon. The eclipse concludes at ~3:55 p.m. The astronomy program will have a limited number of eclipse glasses available, materials to make pinhole cameras, and other viewing activities. This is a drop-in event. As a reminder, always use protective glasses when directly viewing the Sun. Even during the peak of the eclipse here in Kutztown, it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without proper, certified eye protection.
