Kutztown University Daily Brief

L to R: Dr. Jason Crockett, Dr. Albert Fu, Kristyn Rohrer and Dr. Joleen Greenwood
L to R: Dr. Jason Crockett, Dr. Albert Fu, Kristyn Rohrer and Dr. Joleen Greenwood
Congratulations to Kristyn Rohrer, sociology major, who was selected to participate in the American Sociological Association's annual Honor's Program held in Montreal, Quebec August 11-15. Kristyn had the opportunity to present her research project entitled "Sharing the Load: Amish Healthcare Financing" where she investigated an Amish community's unique community-based approach to healthcare financing. She also met with other undergraduates and professional sociologists from across the United States and elsewhere to learn about research, networking, graduate programs and career goals.

This is the fifth consecutive year that KU Department of Sociology has sent a student to the annual meeting's honors program, with two KU students selected in 2015 and 2016. We have now sent more students than 93 other participating schools in the U.S. and Canada, including selective liberal arts schools and flagship state institutions.
Joleen Greenwood, chairperson, Department of Anthropology and Sociology

WEATHER

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Today will feel and look more like autumn than late summer. The coastal storm to our south is exiting off the coast and will throw back ample clouds and showers today. It'll be a sharp precipitation cutoff, meaning Philadelphia has a better chance of some light rain while Scranton may stay totally dry -- Kutztown is right in the middle. Expect clouds and showers or a period of light rain (but it is just as likely we may not see much precipitation) at any time with highs only around 70. Winds will be gusting near 20 mph at times, making that 70 degrees feel more like the low to mid 60s.
