Kutztown University Daily Brief

Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration

The Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration will be held Friday, August 24, in Schaeffer Auditorium. A continental breakfast will be served in the lobby at 8 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m. The event will be a chance for us to celebrate all of our achievements and recognize many of our award winning faculty and staff members. The event will also provide insight on the new initiatives on campus. New employees will be introduced and faculty, staff and student leaders will be acknowledged for their service. The Employees of the Month will be recognized and the Employee of the Year will be announced as well as the coaches of the year. The event will culminate with the presentation of the Arthur and Isabel Wiesenberger Award for Excellence in Teaching. Finally, I will close the event with my "State of the University" address wherein I will share accomplishments and challenges we will be facing in the coming year.

Please click on the link below for the online registration no later than Friday, Aug. 17.
     President Hawkinson

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger
Weak high pressure moves in and provides a much needed respite from the rain. Ridging action will provide for a mostly sunny day. Warm air advection takes hold as our frontal system lifts so temperatures will be elevated. Enjoy a dry day for once in a very long time! Some local areas are already more than 7" above normal this month. High temperature in the upper-80s. Winds west at 6-10 mph.

Bartlett Tree will be on campus working at two sites Friday, Aug. 17, weather permitting. The first site may impact traffic on S. Campus Drive likely reducing it to one lane for a few hours in front of the Student Recreation Center. Guests will still be able to enter and exit the building. The second site will impact the sidewalk at the southeast corner of Old Main A-Wing. If you must walk through this area, please go through the tunnel toward the OLM circle, and walk down the circle toward Risley. Thank you for your patience.

The Kutztown University community is invited to a presentation of the status of the on-going website redesign project 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, 260 Boehm. While anyone interested in learning about the project is invited, those who have any responsibility with maintaining a university website are especially encouraged to attend. Attendees of our presentation in May would see much of the same information, however, we will be previewing the proposed website designs at this meeting. Look for follow up messages for how you can preview the designs in the coming weeks.
