Another hot and humid day in store for us. Trough passing ahead of the cold front (that arrives Thursday) will produce some thunderstorm activity. Some storms could be severe. Main threats are strong wind and heavy rain. Watch out for potential flooding. High temperature near 90. Winds southwest at 5-8 mph. Rainfall between 0.1-0.25 inch with higher amounts where storms occur.

FINAL CONNECTIONS 2019 ORIENTATION PROGRAM
Aug. 21
Please join me in welcoming fall 2019 freshmen and transfer students and family members to campus for the final CONNECTIONS 2019 Orientation. This program will take place in the McFarland Student Union Building. We are delighted to welcome these students and families to the Golden Bear Family. Freshmen will receive a pre-assigned course schedule. Transfer students will be leaving for 1 p.m. advising appointments. We appreciate your help and support.

COMMUNICATION STUDIES WELCOMES NEW FACULTY MEMBER

The Department of Communication Studies is thrilled to welcome our new faculty member, Urszula Pruchniewska, who recently earned a doctorate from Temple University. This term, she is teaching courses in introduction to social media theory and strategy and communication research and writing. Pruchniewska draws upon teaching experience from American and New Zealand universities, as well as industry work in television production, digital content management, advertising and strategic communication. She researches digital technologies and user experience, with a focus on gender. Pruchniewska is an avid photographer, traveler and cat lover, sharing her home with her partner and their three cats – Riley, Dolly and Bea. Thank you for helping our talented new colleague feel at home at KU.

STUDENT RECREATION CENTER AND KEYSTONE HALL SWIMMING POOL HOURS
Aug. 24
The Student Recreation Center and Keystone Hall swimming pool will resume regular semester hours beginning Saturday, Aug. 24.
Student Recreation Center:
- Monday through Thursday: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Friday: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday: 1-11 p.m.
Pool:
- Monday and Wednesday: 8-9 a.m., noon to 1 p.m., 6-7 p.m. and 9-10:30 p.m.
- Tuesday and Thursday: 8-9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 6-7 p.m. and 9-10:30 p.m.
- Friday: 8-9 a.m., noon to 1 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.
- Saturday: closed
- Sunday: 7-10 p.m.
Group exercise classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 3.

MEN’S BASKETBALL ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GOLF OUTING
Sept. 6
Registration is now open for the Kutztown University men's basketball team's 10th annual scholarship golf tournament Friday, Sept. 6, at the Rich Maiden Golf Course in Fleetwood, Pa. Shotgun start is set for 1:15 p.m. The cost is $400 a foursome or you may sign up as a single for $100. If you don’t play but would like to sign up for $100-hole sponsorship, please feel free to do so. ACCOUNTS PAYABLE PROCEDURE
Please keep in mind that campus departments are responsible for submitting their individual invoices to the Office of Accounts Payable for payment. Invoices can be submitted via the apinvoice@kutztown.edu email or via campus mail. All invoices should include the correct purchase order number, signature, date and be marked OK to pay. You may also submit an invoice by attaching the invoice directly to the purchase requisition in SAP marked with signature and OK to pay directly on the invoice to avoid payment delays. Following these procedures will ensure timely payment to our vendors.

RECREATIONAL SERVICES SEEKING FACULTY ADVISORS
Recreational Services is looking for faculty advisors for the fencing, men’s lacrosse and quidditch clubs. The advisor donates their time working with the club to ensure compliance with university policies and to assist in the learning and development of student participants. Other duties include advising the executive board in creating yearly budgets, providing approval for club financial transactions, attending club meetings, games or events whenever possible and serving as a source of information for the students. If you are interested in becoming the advisor for either club, please contact Matt Barrett, coordinator of structured sports, at barrett@kutztown.edu.

Rohrbach Library will resume its normal operating schedule Monday, Aug. 26:
- Monday through Thursday: 7 a.m. to midnight
- Friday: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: 2 p.m. to midnight
The library will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, for Labor Day.
