FACULTY AND STAFF CONVOCATION AND CELEBRATION
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration on Friday, Aug. 23, in Schaeffer Auditorium. A continental breakfast will be served in the lobby at 8 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m.
The Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration will be a chance for us to celebrate all of our achievements and recognize many of our award-winning faculty and staff members. The event will also provide insight on the new initiatives on campus. New employees will be introduced and faculty, staff and student leaders will be acknowledged for their service. The Employees of the Month will be recognized and the Employee of the Year will be announced as well as the coaches of the year. A special presentation will be made providing updates on Admissions and the Enrollment Management Plan. The Kutztown University Foundation will also provide an update of their progress this past year, including the building of the Hampton Inn. The event will culminate with the presentation of the Arthur and Isabel Wiesenberger Award for Excellence in Teaching. Finally, I will close the event with my “State of the University” address wherein I will share accomplishments and challenges we will be facing in the coming year.
I would also like to invite you to attend the Freshman Convocation on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. in O’Pake Fieldhouse. This event allows us to formally welcome our freshman to academic life at Kutztown University. Academic regalia is not required.

DUNN JR., KEENY NAMED 2019 KU ATHLETES OF THE YEAR
Kutztown University’s Andrew Dunn Jr. of the wrestling team, and Sara Keeny of the softball team have been voted the 2019 KU Athletes of the Year. Dunn claimed the 285-pound national championship at the 2019 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships on March 9 in Cleveland, Ohio, becoming the fifth national champion in program history. Keeny became the second player in program history to record a season batting average in excess of .500. Keeny produced school single-season records with a .518 batting average and 100 hits. She was a First-Team All-American and PSAC East Athlete of the Year.
