Celebrate Wynnie’s Birthday
We will celebrate Wynnie’s Birthday, the First Dog of Kutztown University at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the President's House. We will have birthday cake for guests and doggie treats for pets. There will be photo ops with Wynnie and an opportunity for guests to sign a birthday poster for Wynnie. There will not be a walk around campus this day (just a celebration of Wynnie’s birthday), but there will be an opportunity to walk with Wynnie, Wednesday, Sept. 7; more details to come.

KU to Celebrate 2022 Unity Day
Kutztown University will celebrate Unity Day 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Schaeffer Lawn. Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson, university president, along with university leaders, representatives from the student body, the community and other campus officials will give remarks celebrating KU's diversity and sense of belonging to the Golden Bear community. The event will take place during the university's annual Community Link Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., which brings together local businesses, non-profits and places of worship with the campus community.

South Campus Drive between Deatrick and Beck halls will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 1 and 2 in order to make repairs to the steam/condensate lines in the manhole. Please avoid this area and thank you for your cooperation.

Fall Assessment Day
Please join us for Fall Assessment Day, 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, Sept. 16, via Zoom. The agenda includes an overview of current university assessment practices, an introduction to the newest version of NuVentive and how programs can use it to track their assessment progress, and a workshop on assessment reporting best practices. We will give specific attention to the annual reports for program assessment. Proposal Submission for PASSHE DEI Summit EXTENDED
PASSHE has extended the due date for submissions for the virtual DEI Summit to be held Nov. 2-4.
- Extended priority submission deadline is Friday, Sept. 9.
- Final submission deadline is Friday, Sept. 16.
We invite you to submit a proposal to share your research, best practices, or lead an interactive workshop that is related to learning and implementing DEI practices, activating organizational cultural change, and measuring the impact of this work on your campus or in your community. The Planning Committee of the 2022 DEI Summit is excited to receive your proposals and convene a conference that highlights the important and innovative work happening across PASSHE every day.

Underwood Named Fellow of the American Ornithological Society
Dr. Todd Underwood, Department of Biological Sciences, was named a Fellow of the American Ornithological Society. His award notification explains that "AOS Fellows are chosen for eminence in ornithology" and are "recognized for their experience, commitment and contributions to the discipline and the Ornithological Society."
